Sewing since the age of 10, I was always very focused on what I wanted to do as a career. Setting up all of my classes in school and taking every opportunity I could in such a small town wasn't easy, but every little bit helped, even if it was sitting in the back-room of a Consumer's Education class so I could take an independent "Fiber Arts" elective on the broken down Home-Economic sewing machines. I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle's school of fashion with my Associate of the Arts degree just 18 months after I had graduated highschool, at the top of my class, and was fortunate enough to be employed in my field immediately afterwards at London Fog Industries. I apply the skills I've learned from a lifetime of creating garments in my current venture: Dark Industry Clothing.
Ever since I was a little kid with scratch pieces of paper, I created what I thought were "Halloween costumes" inspired by my favorite cartoon at the time: Beetlejuice...no joke =) I still look back at those little drawings and the little spiderweb ponchos and beetle broaches and ponder the design ideas (I've even used some of those pieces in current lines, re-vamped, of course, but the idea was still there!). So, here I am, working in the mass-market fashion industry during the day and creating unique ready to wear and couture clubwear at night and on weekends. I hope to market myself and my company independently some day, but that involves making some $$$, so I fully appreciate and enjoy the job I have right now as I build capitol and experience for Dark Industry.
